This is from the archives... The image below was taken back in 2003 on my lovely, old Pentax using transparency film. The shot was taken off Buoys Drive, Kalk Bay, in the beautiful city of Cape Town. This section of coast is on the False Bay side where the water is still warm. This body of water is also notorious for its Great White sharks, the ones that do the launching show when hunting - truly phenomenal.
The shot was a bit of a "right place, right time" moment. I was driving to a friend's place when I saw the beautiful afterglow of a spectacular sunset. The varying tones of colour, combined with the textures seen in the sky, ocean (wave sets) and white water in the foreground really grabbed me straight away. There is also such a romantic mood to this scene; it remains one of my favourites.
I do miss home.
