I’ve been so busy this weekend! Friday was wedding day, a great day, an awesome couple so in love, makes life easy for me the photographer. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were spent volunteering for a charity called OPEN DOORS who were given the massive responsibility of running a tea tent at “The Big Church Day Out” which was a one day music festival held over three days at two locations. Some massive acts such as SWITCHFOOT, ISRAEL HOUGHTON with NEW BREED (btw – New Breed’s bassist is off the hook), TOBY MAC, BRENTON BROWN, TIM HUGHES, LZ7 and HILLSONG UNITED. We were so busy!!! I don’t think I have ever seen so many people wanting tea at the same time as I did over the last three days! In between all the craziness of making tea/coffee/lattés/cappuccinos/mochas and hot chocolate I managed to sneak out and see some shows.
I got asked to set up the coffee and snack stands for the VIP and staff tent backstage and after a good chunk of hard graft I got offered a press pass to get up close and personal to the performances to photograph them. It was incredible. Here are some of a legendary band who have really been massive in the last 10 years of life and continue to be so now. Switchfoot have just launched a great new album – Hello Hurricane which is absolutely BANGING! I’m also a massive fan of Jon Foreman’s (lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the band) personal work, the lyrics are just so vulnerable, deep and challenging.
Anyway, here are a few images. More of some other acts to follow soon…
If you liked what you saw here and you’re in a band or know of anyone keen, drop me an email and we can talk, I’d love to photograph some live shows and do some portraiture of the band.
